“reading a story with your child is more than just speaking words on a page. it’s a pathway to deeper conversation in the safety of the imaginary.”

ANDREA ABRAMS

Close-up black and white photo of a woman with dark hair, smiling, wearing a zip-up jacket and a striped shirt, against a plain wall.

Abrams grew up in Brisbane, Queensland. She was always an anxious child, prioritising her favorite TV shows and movies over spending time with real people. Although she was not a heavy reader, she did love the world of stories and imagination. As she grew older, she learned to appreciate the fine aroma of books with their decadence of detail that could not be savored through the screen; however, she still struggled with the length of both time and effort it took to complete the great reads. Her impatience is where her love of short story writing began.

Working in engineering and risk leadership roles consumed the majority of her time as she progressed into adulthood. Reading and writing became the escape from the real world her mind needed, and she was finally able to turn her passion into something worth sharing with the world once she retired from her career in Mining to be a full-time mother and author.

Abrams shares insights into her creative process and observations of the world around her on her podcast, Rambling Rants.
